One would think that lions hunt as we know it where they sneak up on prey and take them down. Though their method is not much like ours, they use camouflage and patience and pick and choose their time to strike.

Lions are also one of the few big predators who eat meat pretty exclusively — they stay away from plant material. Mostly this is due to the difficulty in digesting vegetation because of a lack of naturally-occurring bacteria in their stomachs. Carnivores such as tigers and wolves do not face this same issue because they naturally contain the necessary bacteria.

The lion hunts individually or sometimes with a few others, waiting patiently for hours or days before making a kill. They stalk their prey until it slows down, stops to rest, or appears too sick or wounded to outrun the hungry lions who live in most dry regions with scarce animal life — most often these  are zebras, antelopes, and wildebeests.
